Fingers in pies

I don't know what happened, just before the weekend I was thinking to myself, 'coo, if things go on nicely at this rate, I'll have 500 followers by the end of the month'!  Now here we are, just after the weekend and bam, there are 505 lovely followers that come a-visiting with me.  Goodness and gracious.  Welcome, welcome to all my delightful new proto-friends, it is a joy to see you here.  Thank you for supporting me and for your lovely comments.  (You too, my already established friends and followers!)

What I wanted to talk about today though, is all the little 'things on the go' I have at the moment.

I had a little inspirational lull the other week.  You may remember my mentioning the Mo not being so Jo at the time of going to press?  Well, when Ravelry doesn't do it, there's only one other place to go.  Yep, Pinterest!

Well, it did it's job folks, I got inspired.  It only took one photo, but it worked a treat.  In fact, it worked too well truth be told because now I have no less than five projects on the go at the same time.  Which is a lot for a usually monogamous crafting me.

First of all, let's talk about the current hooky projects.  Hooky wise it's all about the Grannies right now...

Number One you've just had a sneaky peaky of above.  This is a direct result of the Inspiring Photo, which you'll learn more about soon as this is off the hook now and only needs a couple more photos before it's all ready to show you.

I really adore the colours of this project though.  It's mostly the result of the odd half balls of DK that I had lying around to be used up.  I just added a few more elements to mix and I've ended up with a new and very much needed refreshing palette.  I've got some different combinations going on in there, I'm finding it kind of quirky and eclectic and it's perked me up no end.  Want to have another look at it?

What do you think?  It might not be to everyone's taste but I love it and I can't wait to show you the finished article later in the week.  Especially because it doesn't remotely resemble this picture any more!

Next up is Number Two, this led straight on from Number One, because I wanted to use those colours again.  Unfortunately the oddments of yarn I had weren't going to cut it for another project and I tried to recreate the same mix with different yarns but that wasn't working at all.  So, keeping the same quirky colour mixtures in mind I came up some more colour combos, but in a more muted version which hopefully will look just right where this hooky creation is going to live.

It took me a while to get used to this one.  I was very uncertain and worried about my colour combos, thinking I'd made a mistake with this colour, or maybe that one.  But as it grows, I'm getting happier and happier with it and that photo actually very much confirms it's yumminess in my mind.

Number Three, the last hooky/grannie creation is a very much in the same vein.  It's going to live in the same room as Number Two so I want it them to play together nicely.  It uses the same colours as Number Two, but far fewer of them.

I think it's going to work out quite nicely though and, if I can explain it without my head exploding, it's going to mean a new tutorial too!

Next we come to the sewing projects.

Number Four is a scrappy log cabin type quilt, which is an idea I've had floating around for a long time.  You never know quite when the quilting bug will strike you but suddenly the mood took me and I started cutting and stitching.

It's starting to take shape and I'm loving how it's turning out so far.

I actually have the 'top' finished but work had halted on this one temporarily while I wait for new supplies come in.

In the meantime though, I had another idea, Number Five, and started snipping up more fabric for these...

I love these little hexies and the delightful heaps they make, like here.  I just knew I'd be back to them sooner or later and I'm so excited by my latest plan for them.

Ooh, it's all exciting and potential!  Well, that's how it feels for me anyhow.  I hope it's the same for you and you aren't too put out that all I've given you so far is little glimpses.

There will be more coming soon, I promise!

PS  A little word on fabric, because some of you have asked and I haven't gotten around to replies yet.  The fabrics I used on my Mummy Love Needlebook are offcuts from the Scrappy Log-Cabin blocks above.  I got most of the fabric from here but it seems a lot of it has gone now.  Try checking the links in the new 'Fabulous Fabric' list in my sidebar on the right or try searching for fabrics under: Feedsack, Nostaglia, 30's reproduction, Timeless Treasures, Leicen or Sevenberry.
