Bring in the spring

If you are living in the UK at the moment, chances are you've probably gotten a little wet, if not drenched at some point in the past couple of weeks.  If you're elsewhere in the world, then I hope you've had better fortune with your weather.  But, I'm determined not to kowtow to the elements.  This month I'm bringing the spring, or the imagined spring at least, into my home.

That's my idea for a Pretty Crafty Home this month.  Last month I talked about not putting things off and I'm pleased to say that I did manage to cross a few of the jobs I'd been procrastinating over off of the list.

I finally got the paint cans down from the loft and painted over all the various old curtain pole holes and other unsightly blemishes that I've been trying to ignore for too long.  In fact, I got rather carried away and painted away lots of marks that haven't moved with cleaning.  It was rather satisfying actually and it does make things look fresher, which is all to the good.  What about you?  Did you manage to cross off anything from your list?  I hope you did.

Well, after such worthy work I thought I decided a nice crafty treat and so I whipped myself up a lovely little decorative flower.  I'd spied a nice little spot for this crochet delight in my photo scouring of the house in March.  It's actually at number 11 in The Hit List so, I got to treat myself and cross something off the list.  Bonus!

It's a rather wonderful Happy Flower from a pattern by Lucy at Attic 24 and I think it's just thing to cheer the place up after all the dreary weather we've been having.  Plus, it's May now, spring should be in full flow and I think this might just encourage it along with all it's colour and happiness.

This little crochet lovely is going to hang in the place of an old wind chime, which I've had hanging there forever and a day.  I think it's an improvement.  Much more bright and enjoyable to look at and should the sun ever decide to make a reappearance it will shine very nicely on this spot right by the back door.

So, that is what I urge you all to do my lovely PCH peeps.  Treat yourself to a lovely crafty project for your home, and bring in some spring with you while you do it!

If you want to share a photo of your lovely spring make, or any of your other PCH doings on the PCH Flickr Group, please do.  l'd love to see what you get up to and maybe I could showcase a few of your lovely 'Spring Things' at the end of the month?

If you want to make your own Happy Flower, the pattern is here.

Good luck Bringing in the Spring!

  1. I love Lucy's flower. It is amazing what a big difference little things make to a room. The improvement of the flower vs wind chime is far greater than you would expect. Sometimes when I am feeling disatisfied with my house I realise often its not the huge things that need to change but lots and lots of little things that sit quietly annoying me ! I am on a major playroom tidy out and I'm looking forward to seeing what solution you think of for your daughter's paintings. Little Son is very productive and I hate to get rid of his handywork but there is SO much. I have taken to scanning it into the PC and then putting into cheap display books but even so its still an issue. Lily. xxx
