Rest and reconsider

It's been a little longer since my last post than I normally leave it, but I caught a very nasty little bug and it rather took it out of me for a while.

I also like to start the month with a Pretty Crafty Home post, inducing a new theme for the month and perhaps coming up with a plan for my next task to be conquered.  Well, I haven't done that either.

I did manage to cover the boxes in my craft room in June, like I planned.  I used some of that lovely dinning room wallpaper that I had left over.  It's nice to use it somewhere else in the house.

Truth be told, although I'm very happy with the progress I've made so far this year, I'm beginning to lose my focus a little.  My 'to do' list, the grand plan of ideas and things I want to achieve is looking a little worse for wear.  The good news is, things have been done and crossed off, but there have been so many amendments, adjustments and additions that I'm losing track of where exactly I'm at.

So, this month, as it's nearly half of it has gone already I think I'm going to be taking a little break and giving myself a little rest.  The school holidays will start soon too so there's a limit to how much I can get done for a while anyway.

I think I'll use this rest time to go over my list, reassess and clean it up a bit.  It's only July at the moment, it'll be September before the holidays are over and then it's not ever so many months until it'll be time to think about that Big Event At The End Of The Year.  I think you probably know the one I mean.  So it's time to see what else I can really get done this year and start making new plans.

So, how's your PCH project coming along?  Have you made some changes you're happy with? Is there still more to do?  Do you need a little break so you can start back fresh and eager next month?  Drop me a line and let me know how you're getting on too and as ever, if you've got some photos to share of your progress so far, post them in the PCH Group on Flickr.

I'd love to know what you've been getting up to so far this year!

  5. Sandra, I completely understand where you are coming from. I keep a journal inwhich I write my annual 'things to do' and monthly 'things to do'. I'm a bit ambivalent about it really, it is certainly a useful aide memoir, but it can also become a bit of a stick to beat myself up with if I don't 'achieve' what I've got on my list. I should re-frame what the lists are about really, it's my attitude to them rather than the lists themselves. All in all I think they're a good thing.

I can't have a clear out at the moment because of of my lovely 'guests' but come the end of July I shall be girding up meloins and cracking on - I laways think September is a great 'beginning', new term, new school year etc etc, so it'll be a good time to get ahead of the game. Boy does my sewing room need a good clear out! Hope you are feeling tons better, Heather, and ready for the fray!

  6. I'm totally with you there Sandra - have a break until September and start again refreshed! I am a terrible list maker - I cheat and add things I've already done just so I can cross them off and look good. I'm such a bad girl.

  8. Try not to be too hard on yourself. When you look back over the past months, you've achieved so much in prettyfying your home... I love those boxes and even little achievements like that (when you're running a family and home) are something to celebrate! I have a chair makeover I'm going to share next week under the banner of PCH but i've only just started.

The very fact you have a list, with lots of things crossed off is impressive to me!!
Good luck for the holidays - I won't get much crafting done either - beyond junk modelling and that type of thing ;o) J9 x

  9. I mostly have my laundry room finished. I just have to figure out what to do to the counter. I saw some paint that I could use but hubby was thinking of replacing it. I would love it if the counter wasn't quite so big!

  10. I love your newly covered boxes for your craft room. How wonderful to have a craft room! That must be gorgeous! I keep my own cumbersome boxes in my bedroom and I craft all over the place, making a lot of untidiness wherever I go!

  11. I agree with Sandra, I'd love to have a craft room!

Not too much progress here with the big tidy and tart up, as hubby calls it. I think mine will have to be a two year project!
