Some Things

I thought I'd do a nice simple post and just share some random things again with you all today.

I hope you are fairing better than me at the moment, but things don't seem to have settled down around here at all yet.  Even after the last few difficult and frantic months, there is still so many things to do, obligations to meet, places to be and worse still, much too much to worry and fret over.  It's all becoming rather wearing to be honest.

But, as always, there are silver linings to those dark clouds, so let me show you some of mine...

Jungle Management

We worked in the garden this weekend.  We went out on Saturday and the weather seemed so Autumnal and grey that we started to prep for the colder months, clearing the dead and fading plants away.  We decided to tackle the overgrown and unwelding lobelia and the resulting 'punnings' took over the whole garden for a time.  Little Miss delighted in dragging branches around and constructing dens while we tried to wrestle things into some kind of respectable state again.  The garden looked quite different afterwards and it was good to feel that we'd achieved something.

Potholder Love

I was speaking of the importance of 'small wins' the over day and I decided I needed another, so a new potholder has appeared.  I had to make this after I saw these squares in beautyinthemirror's Instagram feed the other day.  Isn't that picture just lovely?

I adapted it from a pattern I already had, Vintage Inspired Flowery Potholder (Rav Link) by Rebecca Homick of Hopscotch Lane.  I love that bright aqua blue against the red, so bold but so right!

Missing in Action

Now I wonder if you remember this picture above?  It's ages old and only made a brief appearance on the blog, late last year.  It's actually a scarf and I've finished it and even have the pattern all ready to go, but for some reason I never quite got around to getting it uploaded and released.  I thought it was high time I remedied that situation though, so you'll be seeing a little more of it soon.

It's coming...

Last of all, I'm pleased to say that the Christmas tree skirt pattern is at last all ready to go - yay!
Some of you have been patiently waiting for this one and I know that you wanted it in good time for Christmas, so I'm going to get everything ready so you can get it later on this week.

I know some of you will have your fingers in your ears and be yelling 'lalalalalala' at the screen for even mentioning that season already but wait a bit before you dismiss all thoughts of the festivities right now because there will be an special introductory offer on this pattern.

Early shoppers will be rewarded!

I'll give you all the details when the pattern comes out, hopefully in the next post...

Bye for now...

  1. Sandra-- the rose potholders are so beautiful! I do hope that things will settle down a bit-- sounds very hectic with all of the deadlines. I don't know how you manage to post as often as you do with how busy you've been. I truly enjoy seeing all of the creative things you're doing, though. :)

  4. Hi Sandra - good to focus on the little pleasures and achievements when the rest of life seems to be going awry. Hang on in there, it will sort itself out. I throw myself into the little projects I can tick off, now I don't get to spend all day in the garden or on the sewing machine, with Mum (90) living with us. Very frustrating at times, but then I think how I'll feel when she's no longer around. Take care and have a good week xx

  6. Gorgeous pot holders... I like to squeeze in time for knitting or crochet when all seems at odds for whatever reason! Hope things settle soon. Oh, we have a jungle still to tame. One of my many jobs for when p is back at school. And yes, he is back at school and there has been minimal gardening...

  7. It's such a good idea to focus on what you've achieved if you are up against it in other ways. I've been clearing heaps of stuff from our garden too so you have my empathies! In fact, the grumpy chap at the green waste section of the rubbish tip nodded at me in recognition today!!! Your potholders are prettiness personified and I'm so looking forward to seeing your scarf. Look after yourself petal and try not to overdo it. xx

  17. These potholders remind me of some my grandmother used to have. She taught me to crochet when I was eight and when she passed away I inherited her notebook of scribbled crochet patterns. I recently went through it again and found some notes on how to make the flower potholder she had all those years ago. I gave it a go and put a photo in my Instagram fee, you may have seen it.
Have a lovely week, Heike xx

Who needs technology when we can have crochet??? ;)
