Colour Collaborative: February

Precious

Precious things are things with the most value or worth, the most enjoyed, refined or delicate, the most loved and cherished.  So this month it is hard not to talk about 'Home' again.  Because my family and my home are the most precious things to me.  No doubt many of you feel the same?

I wasn't sure how this would equate to post about colour at first.  These are big, fundamental elements that hold my life together, my family and our little home.  What would I be without them?  But then I started to think about the little things.  The small, insignificant and quite everyday moments that I love and value so highly.  Precious moments in fact.

Moments like the clear, fresh, sunny day above when she went skipping off ahead of us as we walked hand in hand through the park.

Moments full of the saccharin sweet colours of girls play things and being told to make sure Pony's hair is just right for the party she's been invited too.

Glittering, swirling, joyful moments and the look on her face when she puts on the much desired, often requested and long awaited for costume of choice.

Solitary, peaceful moments of quiet and calm, enjoyed in coziness and comfort.

Precious indeed.

What is The Colour Collaborative?
All creative bloggers make stuff, gather stuff, shape stuff, and share stuff.
Mostly they work on their own, but what happens when a group of them work together?
Is a creative collaboration greater than the sum of its parts? We think so and we hope you will too.
We'll each be offering our own monthly take on a colour related theme, and hoping that in combination
our ideas will encourage us, and perhaps you, to think about colour in new ways.

  1. This post made me feel excited as I suspect my life is lead by the colour around me! I blogged not too long ago about my yarn choices being dominated by how much I liked the names of the colours! This seems to be a big factor for me in choosing colour, whether it's yarn for my hooks or paint for my walls! I'm doing a lot of decorating at the moment and have just re-painted a newly painted room (yes, I painted it twice!) because I couldn't live with the colour I'd originally chosen - now, when I walk into the room, my heart sings and my spirits lift. I've unpicked hours of work in a crocheted blanket because the colours weren't working well together, added in another colour that brought complete harmony to a project that I was finding hard to even look at! Colour is our world, it changes and reflects our spirits and mood and so important and I don't mind admitting to a little colour envy when I see the palettes and choices of others - I often hear myself thinking 'wish I could put colours together like that!' I will hop over to some of your suggested blogs and have a peek at their colour collaborations now, maybe get a few nice ideas........

  2. Moments in time are a very precious thing indeed as they cannot be recreated, only remembered fondly! xx

  3. You've really captured life with a little girl. I know that my own photos of my daughter would have a lot of the same colors.

  4. One way or another, and of course without any consultation, all we collborators have posted about family ... I find that rather comforting.

  5. I just love the way you separate out each colour from the photo, you're so good at it. And yes, home and family would be most precious to me as well. xx
