Stylecraft Blog Tour and Dotty Darlings!

I'm very pleased to be joining in with Stylecraft's annual Blog Tour again this year.

Yesterday the tour was with lovely Anne and Michelle of Crochet Between Worlds and tomorrow it will be jetting off to see the fab Lucia of Lucia's Fig Tree.
But just for today, you are all mine!

I'm a big fan of the delightful new Bambino and Bellissima yarns from Stylecraft.  Beautiful colours, delightful soft, bouncy feel and an absolute pleasure to work with, what's not to love?  So it was entirely a pleasure to work with it to make up a little something to share on this blog tour.

I decided to go with a blanket.  I've managed to make a really lovely sized baby blanket using only the five balls of yarn from the pretty 'Summer Pudding' pack, so this stuff is good on yardage too.  (Stay tuned for a chance to win a pack of Summer Pudding yarns for yourself by the way!)

Because I love the way this yarn slides so silkily over the hook and the rhythm of it is so perfectly soothing, I really wanted a nice and soothing pattern to go with it.  Something simple and yet with a little feature to hold the interest and of course, a little colour play to bring the enjoyment levels up even higher.

So I settled on a nice and easy dotty motif.  It's inspired by fillet crochet, although technically it doesn't quite follow the rules... I also went for nice wide stripes of colour, with changes often enough to keep things fresh, but not so frequent as to be changing yarns all the time.

It didn't want the border to dominate, so I went for something subtle, but kept the signature dottiness of the main blanket to make a nice frame.  This blanket is actually a great make for autumn, it's a very cozy and comfortable make now I come to think about it.

It's also cat approved, which is obviously very important!

You can find the pattern by following the link below, and it's going to be completely FREE until the end of the Blog Tour, so do make sure you snap up your copy while you can!
