Handmade Year 2014

As, I think it is safe to say, usual, I am here with my round-up of my crafty year.

It has been in many ways, a completely awful year, filled with one blighted thing after another which I am quite frankly glad to see the back of.  But, that would be if you only looked at one side of things.  The other events that have gone on in these strange online world have made it one of the most surprising and pleasing years on record.  A peculiar up and down kind of year for me I suppose and I'll take a quieter one next, if no-one minds.

But let us get on.  I know that not everyone approves of these posts looking back over the months but then again, many others do enjoy them and as I am one of those, I am sticking with it.

I like, and this is where the self-indulgent part can be quite fairly accused, to look back and see that I've actually accomplished something in the last 12 months.  Sometimes it can feel that you've been trudging along getting no-where so it's nice to pull a few pics together to confirm that yes, thank goodness, some progress was made.  I have to confess too, that's it's nice to look over the previous years posts and reminisce about projects of the past.  I like to think of it as a way of keeping a little catalogue of my crafty endeavors.

Apart from those benefits to me, I hope that it might be of some interest and possibly even use to you too.  'Interest' to those of you who quite like these posts too and are happy to re-live previous makes with me. 'Of Use' because you might be new around these parts and be glad to see a few projects that were featured here before we met.

If you've read this far, I'll assume you're in one of the above two categories and so I hope you'll enjoy what follows.  And, if it so happens that you do wish to read a little more of what you see below, you can click on a picture to be taken to the relevant posts for that month.

Thank you so much for looking over 2014 with me and for coming to visit me throughout the past year.  You never fail to amaze me with your kindness and wonderful generous support and I appreciate every comment, every pattern purchase and all the interest you show in what I get up to so much.

Good luck for a wonderful and crafty 2015!

  2. OMG! You did so much this year. Here's me making a list for what I want to do in 2015, and top of the list is finishing the granny square blanket. A few grannys a day. Must be feasable, right?

  4. as usual... I am absolutely in AWE of what you accomplish throughout the year Sandra! While I 'do' have some completed projects (like the scarves I crocheted for Christmas presents THIS year that were supposed to be done for Christmas LAST year!)
    *ehem*
I too will be glad to see the finish of 2014! Without trying to sound to melodramatic - this has probably been the worst year of my life! Too many things went south. But with so many endings came new beginnings - and for those I am VERY THANKFUL!
May 2015 bring us all Blessings!

  18. Sandra, your blog has been incredibly inspirational for me this past year - because of it I went on a 'become a real crocheter' mission and am now able to really crochet. 2014 was a trying year for me as well and crochet revision got me through the rougher patches!

I can not only crochet in the round now thanks to you, but am no longer afraid to try patterns in either US (where I first took up playing at crochet) or UK terminology (where I've lived since 2010 and have finally learnt real crochet instead of playing at it using one stitch only - thanks to your mouthwatering blog).

I printed this gorgeous round-up and have it tucked up in my virtual studio reading room folder.

Happy New Year, and may 2015 be less awful and more Happy straight through to 2016 for all of us!
