It felt a bit wrong...

...but I've done it.

I've joined Facebook.  Well, sort of.

I've made a Cherry Heart page at any rate.

Maybe you love it or maybe you hate it?  I've kind of avoided it for a long, long time but for a quite a while now I've been wondering about the merits of it, from a bloggy point of view.

Then clever hubby said, 'You can just make a 'page' you know'.  I didn't know, he had to explain.  But once he had, I thought maybe that would be something I could do.

So if you love it and you're part of it, come push my button!

I'll hope to see you there.

  2. I created a Facebook account and then worried that the stalker I had a couple of years ago would recognise something about me and I immediately removed it - what a wuss!! I'll pop over and have a look at yours instead.

  3. I prefer to continue and visit you here! Facebook is not my thing!

  4. I have been shy about FB too, but finally entered (just personal, not blog-wise). I am not a great fan, but admit it is useful! Hope you like it...
    see U there

  5. I took the very same plunge. I just set one up for the blog. Never have been a very big fan of it but it helps get the word out there about what you are doing.

  6. I need to do this, although I'm afraid it will be just another time suck. And I worry that Facebook will get all my traffic ... how many Facebook folk will actually click through to the blog? I'd be interested to hear how you get on with it.

The page is looking great :D

    1. Annie - I "liked" a few bloggy friends on fb, and usually comment on their fb posts, but it never keeps me from visiting their blogs. (Actually I never click through from fb to a blog post, preferring to read the blog posts when I'm in Blogger mode.) Don't know if everyone is like me, though.

  7. I use Facebook mainly to keep in touch with family members - consequently I have the shortest "friend" list of anyone I know (and I like it that way). I've debated starting a Mrs. Micawber page, but so far I've kept my blog persona separate from my real life interactions - and also I can barely keep up with the family-related Facebook. Like Annie, I'm afraid it would be a time suck (of time I don't have). But I'll be happy to visit you there! :)

  8. I've had my fb page for a few years now. If I ever get my own blog & Etsy store up and running, I'll do a fb page for it *grin*
Nearly 100 'Likes' already! Good on you Sandra!

  9. I'm just the same. I kept away from facebook for a long time but then felt it might be good for letting people know about my work. So I set a page too. I'll go and check out yours now. Fiona x

  10. Don't you think it's weird though all that 'liking' and 'following' that people do? It's like people have a cult following. I find it unsettling that people seem to be like herd animals just inanely following the crowd. I find that other face book place, blog and ravelry group set up in someones name totally bizarre and rather scary. I'm not sure why some people handle it better than others (posy gets cosy comes to mind). Some how she seems to contain her popularity by taking a step backwards.

Some people seem to almost see others as a goddess figure or something, that can do no wrong. I think social networking can attract some very unstable and strange people. Possibly you don't need to worry as perhaps they have mostly attached themselves elsewhere to a very strange phenomenon of hero worship. I think there is probably only room for one at that level (it's funny as there are people with much greater talent too, which seems to be largely ignored) which in all honesty is probably a good thing.I think it the case that the hierarchy of blogging has it's mega star and that mere mortals will have to expect a lesser form of worship. I think you should be relieved about that as I think it is all very strange and unsettling that people are so eager to find others so much higher in importance than themselves and others. You can really start to see how people can exert such influence on people for bad as historically happened. People seem incredibly gullible and wanting to be led around. They then defend the person/group/leader no matter what, and I think that is rather dangerous. Crafts are not the same obviously as political beliefs but the tendencies to want to have their emotions and intellect exploited are and the ease in which it happens to the gullible frightens me.

I never 'like' and never 'follow' as I find it such a peculiar concept. I do read though. I also don't like people to know my business and face book shouts it out to everyone. I find it a particularly loathsome site. Far better to keep your dignity and let your talent speak for itself - which it does as you have lots of it.

    1. Oh yes, you're certainly not alone in having reservations. Some love it and some hate it. Indeed many that use it seem to also hate it as far as I can understand. I've not felt the need to be on FB as 'me' yet and possibly I never will. I guess this 'page' of mine is more of an experiment than anything else at the moment.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

  11. Oh! Will come to visit. You know, since I started hooking in 2011 (and started blogging) I also opened a Facebook Page ("Ons Hekel") and have since learned so much. The main purposes was to make contact with other South African/Afrikaans hookers, and it totally exceeded my expectations. I am actually migrating from a page to a group format now, as I want it to be more of a platform/forum that my own page.
Hope you also enjoy your FB experience.

  13. I liked your page =D
I finally gave into the whole FB thing too. I don't use my personal account though....just my page :) I tried setting it up at first with a page only and no personal account, but it wouldn't allow me to "like" other pages that way. I had to delete everything and start all over...creating a personal account with a separate "page"...sigh lol. I'm still such a FB newbie :)

  15. LOL! Oh you are so funny! I totally relate because I'm not on Facebook either. It's almost become a matter of pride for me. ;) But I've been thinking for a while now that I should at least have a business page ... I've been told it's important. So now maybe I'll do it too.

    Thanks for the chuckle, Sandra!
