Be Mine
Love is in the air.
Well, love is around the fireplace at least. Valentine's Day is coming and I couldn't resist another garland for the occasion. It's been looking so bare and lonely since Christmas that it needed something to perk it up again.
I started playing around with different heart patterns a few weekends ago, back in January. Using up bits and bobs of left-over yarns in different weight and textures. Some angora from these, some aran from these, that sort of thing.
I even got out the embroidery cotton and made some itty bitty hearts, including a teeny tiny, oh so adorable little version of my Grannie Heart. I do love it like that, almost better than the originals.
I was happy to keep this one nice and simple, so it's just plain hearts in different colours and sizes, tied to string. With all their dingly dangly bits hanging any old how and I'm very happy with that.
I think the fireplace looks most cheerful and loveable now. Much better than the plain look it's been sporting this last month or so.
It's easy peasy to do if you fancy whipping one up in time for next week. Grab any old bits of yarn. It doesn't matter which weight, the more variety the better if you ask me. These three hearts about are all made from the same pattern. (Number 1, in the list below), but they all look nice and different because of weights and types of yarn.
Now, I bet you'd like to know which heart patterns I used wouldn't you?

And, a little update while I'm here...
The poll is going very well and the two leaders are so, so close to each other. There's only 1 vote in it! So, if you haven't voted yet, pop over to the sidebar and click a button, it could make all the difference!

See you soon to announce the winner.

They're so pretty! Inspired me to make a heart garland for our home. I think they would look cute hung from a branch turned sideways.

Hi there, I'd already been making lots of hearts - mine have been adorned with buttons and strung into a vertically hanging decoration. I love your granny heart though, the picot edges are very pretty. I think my next lot of decorations will have some of your granny hearts in them. Thanks
ReplyDeleteHere's my attempt at a Granny Heart - thanks for the great photos and step by step guide. Really helped! Verity
