Colour Collaborative: March

 Bud

Spring is my absolute favourite time of year these days.  The sun starts to give off some welcome warmth, the flowers are starting to come to life and colour is popping out around the garden.  Coats are tentatively being peeled off and boots put to the back of the wardrobe.  Doors are windows can be flung open and the fresh air is welcomed in again.

Summers are lovely, but the heat can be tiring.  Winter has it's own stark beauty and autumn I'm coming to appreciate so much more in the last few years, but no other season is bursting at the seams with potential, expectation and promise of things to come like spring.

And a bud is the epitome of that anticipation.  It's small and sometimes quite unassuming but it's packed with the burgeoning potential to be glorious.  That's why I love spring, it holds all the promise of magical possibilities.  An idyllic summer,  a magnificent display of flowers, the lush greenery of growing plants.  Long warm evenings, picnics, barbeques and walks under shady trees.   None of these things may arrive in reality but here and now, in this moment, it is all possible and that is exciting.

Are the very best things in life all ones that are all related to the bud-like potential, the anticipation, the thought of what could be I wonder?

Christmas has the excitement of anticipation. Holidays have the promise of fun and laughter and relaxation.  Dressing up for a night out thinking of who you might meet.  And maybe, a child.
Who will they grown up to be?  How will they shape their lives?  What could they achieve?

But, I don't have a picture of a child to show you.  I do however have something else that is tightly furled like a bud, has the potential to unwind and grow into something truly spectacular like a bud.  That brings out the excitement of possibilities and ideas of things to come....

Yep, it's yarn.  Was that totally predictable of me?

Well, maybe, but the analogy works quite well I think!

What is The Colour Collaborative?
All creative bloggers make stuff, gather stuff, shape stuff, and share stuff.
Mostly they work on their own, but what happens when a group of them work together?
Is a creative collaboration greater than the sum of its parts? We think so and we hope you will too.
We'll each be offering our own monthly take on a colour related theme, and hoping that in combination
our ideas will encourage us, and perhaps you, to think about colour in new ways.

  3. That's a brilliant analogy Sandra, all the possibilities that are waiting within a ball of yarn, and what it will grow into.
There is definitely something so special about Spring isn't there, and I love the subtle pinks in your post.
My last post was also about Spring colour - not pink though, but green. If you get a minute pop over and take a peek, would love you to drop in,

  5. I really like that analogy! Yarn is wrapped up tightly when we buy it, but it's full of hidden possibilities. I enjoyed your color palettes this month too, those are always so interesting to me. I love your optimism too - we may not have the summer of our dreams but we don't know that yet, so why not look forward to what could be. :)

  10. Loving the analogy - your basket of yarn looks very tempting! Autumn just has the edge for me - there is something about the smell in the air and cold evenings but Spring is a time for new beginnings - and projects! Off to the yarnternet now then! Jane x

  12. I've never been too excited about spring as summer follows this and I'm more a winter person however, this year I have truly embraced the onset of spring and can't wait to get out and about as much as possible and do projects under my pergola in the shade. It must be my age! x

  13. I love the way you compared a ball of yarn to a bud - brilliant! Great analogy, and there is so much colour here. I would've said buds were green but all these CC posts are showing so much other glorious depth of colour. x
