November Things...

I'm not really sure what I've come on here to say.  I just had a few pictures collected up with no-where else to go and I sort of felt like I should do a post.  I think I've been wanting to try and get something down here as I have really fallen out of the regular habit now and I miss that sort of record and little snap shots of what I've been up to.

The weather hasn't really got too cold just yet, but I haven't been outside as much this year because although Bertie isn't a big fan of these cooler days he really can't stand going out in the wet.  He runs off when he sees his coat coming out and so we tend to just do the morning walk and leave it at that for him.  If we get a good day we'll go out again but mostly I just let him stay curl up in the warm.

But I'm still enjoying the few walks we have and the garden is still looking relatively reasonable at this stage for once too.  We've got quite a nice mix of autumn colours going on.  I've also left some of the mini pumpkins dotted about out the back as they seem to be holding up nicely and add a bit more colour and decoration to the place.

It also feels a bit like I haven't made much progress on anything lately.  At least, I'm plugging away at things and yet nothing seems to actually get finished.  I'm sure there will be light at the end of the tunnel soon but in the meantime, getting back to the sewing machine has been a wonderful relief.  I think I'd forgotten how quickly you can get results with sewing and how satisfying that is.

I've also been whipping up a few presents and things and it feels good to be getting those done in a good time.  Makes me feel super organised and on top off things, which isn't something I've been feeling a whole lot of lately I can tell you!

The good news is that my Elton cardigan that I'm working on and was finding a bit of a slog has become enjoyable again.  It has felt like I was knitting away like a trooper and seeing next to no progress for my troubles, but from no-where my mojo for it came back.  Now I've relaxed nicely into it again and wouldn't you know it, it feels like I'm making grand progress now.  Maybe it's all down to mindset with these things?

That's probably all from me.  I think I've mostly been talking to myself in this one.  Sorry about that, I hope it wasn't too boring for you!

  1. Rest assured, you're never boring. Love that the cardigan is still coming along well. The last photo is an apt reminder!

    1. Ahh, thank you so much! ☺️ Yes, it's one of those slow but sure ones, but at least I'm seeing progress now!

  2. I like your embroidered baskets/bags, and crochet toadstools. The weather has been very uninspiring here, I find it hard to get motivated in these prolonged grey days...

  4. I love your needle book with the hexagons, and the pouches with the embroidery. What are the patterns for these. I would love to make them for myself. I love your granny square afghan also. Keep up the good work.

    1. Oh thank you so much! I'm afraid I don't have any particular patterns to recommend for the needle book, but I followed my own 'Stocky Sock Bag' pattern for the pouch. It doesn't include the embroidery part, which I just added in but it does have the bag construction. It's in my Etsy shop:

  5. Hi. Lovely to see what you have been up to. I have lost my mojo completely after my Dad passing away a couple of weeks ago. Nothing feels important any more. Still, I have managed a couple of crochet motifs for the Stylecraft Cal Sunstar blanket. Crafting is comforting so I will get my mojo back I am sure. I find that switching crafts is a great way to help too when one project seems to not be making any progress.

    1. Oh I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. No wonder that the mojo has gone, I suppose everything is a bit turned on it's head at the moment. I'm glad that you've found a little solace in crafting though, as you say, it can be such a comfort.
