Lost my voice?

I think I might have lost my voice.  Not because of a seasonal cough or cold, I'm glad to say.  We had enough of those before Christmas.  No, it's my bloggy voice that I'm talking about.

I'd been meaning to come back here before now, as I usually would, and tell you how my Christmas and New Year was, show you the pictures I'd taken and tell you abut the things I'd been making.  But when the holiday ended and normality resumed, I found I didn't really have a lot to say.

Normally in such cases, I open up the camera and see what pictures I've taken.  They usually set me off on some path or other and everything works out.  This time, the camera was virtually empty.  It only really offered up the meagre affair above and the tales that picture might be able to tell I've already told on my podcast.

That's the thing you see.  Now I do podcast, I find my 'podding voice' is healthy and happy and my 'bloggy voice' is rather quiet.  That, together with an significant increase in using my phone to snap daily moments to feed to Instagram, rather than using my DSLR, means the blog seems to be loosing out.

I'm not sure how I feel about that.  At first I was sad because I thought I was loosing that record of my crafty makes and chatting to you all about them.  But actually, I am still doing that, it's just not taking place here as much as it used too.  Maybe that's ok.  I don't know.

I do want to keep blogging and being here now reminds me I do enjoy blogging too.
I just slightly fear I've got nothing left to say!

: :

On a more positive note, I thought I'd share some other pictures I found of 'Januarys Past' as a way of 'filling in' for the current lack of pictures.

I hope these are a little more enjoyable and maybe I'll have something more to share next time...

  1. I miss you on Blogger. Sadly, so many bloggers have moved to IG and they are missed as well. Times change and people move on. ^^

    1. Thank you! I know what you mean, I miss some favs too. You're right, things do change. I still want to blog though, I'm not giving up yet, but it seems to get harder to do, for me at least.

    1. Ah thanks so much! I really don't want to stop, so that's something. I just can't quite work out why it does't come as easily as it used to I guess. As much as I love podcasting now, and enjoy watching them too, it's something that has it's pros and cons. I miss sharing pretty pictures of makes, even if I don't miss the work of trying to get a half decent shot! ;)

  4. I lost mine as well ;-) Might have to do with my Mac's disability to communicate with Blogger? Really liked the whole process of documenting projects and following others, a lot of voices seem tpo have quited down.

    1. Oh no! Yes technical difficulties can definitely do a lot to knock these things on the head. It's enough effort as it is without the computer working against you for sure. I also agree, it's so much quieter now and it does feel like maybe no-one's there any more. Not true I know, but that's why these comments are lovely to receive, because it seems so much easier to forget these days.

  6. Hi Sandra,
I do miss you here around the blog but I see you on instagram and your podcast so I won't have to miss you too much hihi.
I get the lost of your voice. I have it too sometimes. I want to write but nothing comes out on the screen.
Sandra, don't worry about your blogvoice. I'm sure it will come back to you :-).
Have a nice day (do you have snow over there? Everyone is panicking here in The Netherlands because snow should be coming hihi)

    Sweet greetings,
    Emily

    1. Ah thanks for finding me out elsewhere too. I think you are right, I think it will come back of it's own accord when it's ready. I suspect it might just need a little break tbh and a chance to 'miss' blogging more!

Oh yes, we are all panicking here too! Not much to show for it yet where I am yet though. A very slightly sleety dusting is all we've had but it melted as soon as it arrived. I won't be sad if that's it. ;)

  7. My last couple of posts made me realise that I missed blogging. I think it's a nice place to be if you just want a chit chat and get a lot of thoughts down. As nice as Instagram is, it's really all about snippets and it's quite shallow in that sense. I do like to read a good hearty blog post. It's always lovely to connect with someone on a deeper level in their everyday lives, but as you say (and I have felt over the years too) sometimes you just lose your voice and it's hard to connect. Maybe use Instagram and your podcasts for crafty bits and news and use your blog to just have chats about everyday life and loves, also including crafty stuff you've touched on on the other platforms? It's always lovely to see and hear your thoughts and makes!

    much love xxx

    1. Thank you so much!

Yes, I agree. It's so much nicer to be able to chat here, whereas IG is just so fleeting. I always used to feel quite clear that Insta was just a sort of companion and a side note for the blog which I saw as the main event. I'm not quite sure how I managed to get sucked into the IG machine quite so much... Actually, I do know, new phone with better camera! I just take a pic and then post it instantly, rather than it getting saved for a post and a chat later.

But I do also feel like I just end up repeating myself here and being totally dull. I was thinking that's where taking a bit of a break might do me good. Maybe it's a break from Instagram I need, rather than a break from the blog though!

  8. I'm not an instagrammer either but I love your podcasts and it's also nice to 'see' you popping up on blogland whenever you are able. Long Live CherryHeart Blogspot!

    1. Yes, these days it sometimes feels like 'everyone' is on Instagram. Not true though, but it does sometimes feel that's one of the places where the blogging community has largely moved to now. That and You Tube which also seems very lively. I guess nothing stays the same, progress or some such?! ;)

  9. Here's hoping it is a January feeling... though I haven't as much as looked at my blog since early autumn I think. As it is the part that takes the most time, I suppose it is the first to go when life gets busier. Not ready to give up on it yet though!

    1. Yes I think there may be a large element of that at play here. I checked my previous posts the other day and it turns out I wrote a very similar post at almost exact the same time last year! Told you I had nothing new to say! ;)

I'm still not ready to give up yet either, let's carry on together! 😘

  10. I love blogs and connecting with others this way. I continue to blog regularly. I see that many people visit, but not many take the time to leave a comment! That's what I miss the most, the exchanges that used to take place! I also find that if we space out new entries in our blog, we have less and less to say and others visit even less often! So I guess that regularity is the key and just being ourselves and talking about the simple things in life that others can identify with!

    1. Yes, it's certainly true that regularity has always been key and so I'm sure it still is. I also very much miss the comments and conversation side of blogging too. I get it though, it's relatively hard to comment on a blog and there are other places where it's so easy! There's no way I want to lose this space yet, I guess it's just changing, as all things do. :)
