Christmas Presents - 17th December

It's time for another door to open on the Christmas Present calendar!

Today's new pattern is...

: :

This is one of my favourite cushions, which I originally made for my bedroom and still sits there today, although it's taken a tour around the house to various locations over the years.  This was the first time I used this cute butterfly design which I still love.  So much so, that I incorporated it into my recent Nature's Walk CAL blanket too!

I've used a join as you go method to add each different square of colour in, rather than trying to work any kind of tapestry crochet type affair, as I felt that joining each one to the previous was easier.  There is some written information in the pattern about the joining, but it might be more helpful to look at this video tutorial, which shows the same technique!

I also used a fabric backing for this cushion, and the pattern includes written instructions for that too.  (There's no photo tutorials in this pattern.)  I decided to use one of my favourite fabrics on this cushion too, which mean that back is just as pretty as the front and I can swap which side I have showing.
